Anthony is 6 years old and attends Orchard Hill Elementary. He loves music, his big sister, Avery, and riding the school bus. He also loves to be silly and make people laugh.
Anthony was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was 2 years old. This condition caused him to have very low muscle tone, so he relies on the use of his wheelchair and other adaptive equipment to help him move and function.
He also has challenges with aspiration, respiratory failure, and self-injurious behavior.
Anthony is nonverbal. He communicates with his facial expressions and eyes.
In November 2018, Anthony stopped eating and drinking on his own and was emergency airlifted to Portland. He spent a month in ICU and had a g-tube installed.
In 2021, Anthony’s dad passed away from COVID. He was only 34 years old.
Anthony will battle life-long medical challenges and will need to see doctors regularly.
Anthony and his family have faced so much in the last year, but are determined to keep moving forward and to find joy in every day.
Anthony will be adopted as a Sparrow to Phoenix High School. PHS students will work hard to earn money for Anthony through sponsored community service.
