Bryson is a charming, sociable, and happy 2-year-old little boy, who suffered a brain injury during being born prematurely at 36 weeks.
In Bryson’s first year, his parents noticed he moved differently than other babies. He disliked being swaddled and had an unusually strong startle response.
At 5 months old, when Bryson wasn’t meeting his growth milestones, doctors began conducting tests to better understand what was happening.
After enduring medical testing with a team of neurologists, Bryson was diagnosed with Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy.
Bryson is unable to control his movement because the signals from his brain are interrupted before reaching different parts of his body.
Bryson has completed several intensive physical therapy programs, each lasting one to three weeks, in locations such as Los Angeles, Eugene, and Lake Tahoe. He benefits greatly from every session, and his family hopes to continue participating in multiple programs each year.
Bryson is non-verbal, but he is awaiting the arrival of his augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device, which he will be able to operate with his eyes. Even without this, Bryson has a special way of connecting with others through his sweet personality and a smile that brightens any room he is in.
Bryson will be adopted as a Sparrow at Ridgeview High School in Redmond. Students will work hard to earn money for Bryson through sponsored community service, supporting him and cheering him on as his family continues to navigate his medical journey.
