Carter is a sweet little boy who will be turning two on November 3, 2023. He loves his older sisters, fuzzy blankets, Winnie the Pooh, and the dragon “Toothless.”
Carter was born with a condition called H-Type tracheoesophageal fistula (H-Type TEF).
TEF is a birth defect that caused his esophagus to have an abnormal connection to his trachea, which causes major problems with breathing and being able to eat on his own.
Carter was airlifted by emergency to Portland four days after he was born and had to remain in Portland undergoing surgeries for 4 months.
Carter has had several feeding tubes installed at different times to help carry food and medicines directly to his stomach.
Carter also has a rare bone condition and a hole in his heart. The many medical hurdles cause Carter to see doctors often, he is also scheduled for many future surgeries.
Despite all this, Carter doesn’t allow his medical challenges to keep him down. He loves helping his family with chores and is a very loving little boy. He loves to learn new things and be a part of any activity.
Carter will be adopted as the Sparrow to Logos Public Charter School. Logos students will work hard to earn money for Carter through sponsored community service.
