Ezra is a sweet, affectionate four-year-old who loves hugs and kisses! He also loves Mickey Mouse, Puppy Dog Pals, and splashing in the water.
n
nIn December of 2020, Ezra began throwing up multiple times a day. However, for months, doctors couldn’t find anything wrong.
n
nBy March of 2021, the vomiting persisted. Ezra began having difficulty walking and he was losing weight. The local hospital knew he needed to be seen at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
n
nAn MRI quickly revealed that Ezra had an egg-sized tumor and fluid around his brain. Two days later Ezra had brain surgery.
n
nSix days later, Ezra was officially diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma, a high-grade aggressive type of brain cancer.
n
nA few weeks later, Ezra underwent a second surgery to place a shunt in his brain to relieve the pressure caused by fluid collecting in his brain.
n
nIt was weeks before he was strong enough to start chemotherapy. Ezra has endured five surgeries so far and has been through multiple rounds of chemo. Doctors continue to treat and monitor him closely as cancerous cells remain.
n
nDespite all the pain and struggles with side effects from the treatments, therapy, and surgery, Ezra continues to put a smile on the faces of those around him. He is an inspiration to everyone! His journey to fight this battle is still unclear as doctors monitor his progress.
n
nEzra will be adopted as a Sparrow to Rex Putnam High School. Students will work hard to raise money for Ezra through sponsored community service.
