Lucia is a sweet and happy three-year-old who loves to sing and dance! She loves Trolls, Disney movies, and books. She is a warm and happy little girl who loves to be called ‘Cia Princess’!

nIn July of 2021, her parents noticed her leg would start to tremble but would stop so they thought it was just stress.
n
nHowever, when her symptoms continued and her arm started the same type of trembling, her parents grew more concerned. Lucia’s walking seemed unstable, so her parents took her to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

nAn MRI quickly revealed that Lucia had a mass in the middle of her brain. She also had a condition called hydrocephalus, or fluid collecting around her brain.

nA few days later, doctors had to surgically place a shunt in her brain and perform a biopsy of the tumor.
n
nTwo weeks later the biopsy revealed Lucia had a Diffuse Midline Glioma tumor which was inoperable.

nThe next week she began her first thirty rounds of radiation treatment. The treatment has been difficult and comes with nausea and weakness, but Lucia is a fighter.

nLucia will wait to see if the radiation is working, and doctors will decide what is next on her journey. Lucia continues to put a smile on the faces of those around her. She is an inspiration to everyone! Her journey to fight this battle is still unclear as doctors monitor her progress.

nLucia will be adopted as a Sparrow to Glencoe High School. Students will work hard to raise money for Lucia through sponsored community service.
