Maisie is a spunky 15-month-old who loves to be independent. She enjoys running and climbing on about anything! Maisie also loves Bluey, all animals, coloring, and playing with her dolls.
n
nIn October of 2021, Maisie had a fever that wouldn’t go away, and she just wasn’t herself. Doctors did test her for Covid, but the results were negative. After she started limping, her parents decided to take her to the ER.
n
nHer parents pushed for more tests that led her to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. It was there her parents learned she had Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
n
nThe next day Maisie’s treatments began. She has already had multiple rounds of chemotherapy that resulted in some scary allergic reactions. Maisie’s PICC line was eventually replaced with a port, and she is starting the next phase of her treatment.
n
nHer journey has only just begun. Each next phase of treatment will be determined by the results of continued bone marrow biopsies.
n
nMaisie will be adopted as a Sparrow to South Meadows Middle School. Students will work hard to raise money for Maisie through sponsored community service
