Rikki is a 3-year-old little girl who lights up the world around her.
In May of 2022, Rikki’s family noticed her eye was inflamed and irritated. Her mom took her to the doctor several times, but it seemed to be nothing of concern.
On June 6, 2022, a lump appeared on Rikki’s chest, so her dad took her to the emergency room. Doctors did blood work, scans, and a heart test. They discovered the lump was a tumor, along with a tumor in her eye, and leukemia in her blood.
Rikki was emergency airlifted to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland and immediately began chemotherapy and steroid treatments.
Since then, Rikki has had a port surgery, blood transfusions, spinal taps, and continues to have weekly chemotherapy.
The aggressive treatment has been successful in completely shrinking the tumors, allowing Rikki to avoid surgery. She has been in remission since August 2022.
Rikki will continue to receive chemotherapy and other treatments for at least the next 2 years to be sure the cancer does not return.
Rikki is a sweet, energetic, and determined little girl. She is always smiling and ready to play. She brings joy everywhere she goes!
Rikki will be adopted as the Sparrow to Lost River Jr/Sr High School. Lost River Students will work hard to earn money for Rikki through sponsored community service.
